The Postal Industry is Heating Up: Tech Company GARDI Secures Full Funding Round
Share
Gardi Oy’s early-stage funding round was led by Mikko Eskola’s investment company Vacilando and Jukka Korpio’s family investment company KorpioCo. At the same time, Marko Majamäki has been invited to join GARDI’s board to support the company’s next phase of growth strategy. GARDI develops scalable technology and service models for receiving and sending parcels directly from home.
The early-stage funding round for Gardi Oy, a technology company focused on two-way material flows, was fully subscribed, raising €170,000. The round was led by finance industry veteran Mikko Eskola’s Vacilando Oy and Jukka Korpio’s KorpioCo Oy, known for his background in the packaging sector. Other investors included growth investor Jouni Ekholm, among others.
GARDI Builds the Future Ecosystem for Delivery and E-Commerce
According to Eskola, the postal industry’s transformation from letter delivery to parcels is not only redefining the very concept of a mailbox — but also the entire idea of home delivery.
“GARDI’s clear, fresh approach to a traditional industry was impressive. It’s solving a universal problem in a way that’s globally scalable,” Eskola says.
GARDI is developing an ecosystem that connects distribution and e-commerce, with the household at its center. Its technology enables parcels to be received or sent around the clock — without anyone needing to be at home.
Seeking Strategic Partnerships
CEO Petteri Heiman says the increased activity in the postal sector this autumn has further strengthened confidence in the industry’s ability and willingness to evolve. GARDI’s first products are already on the market, and the company is now investing in ecosystem development and expanding its service offering.
With the newly raised capital, GARDI aims to form its first partnerships within the Nordic postal sector and e-commerce platforms.
“In hockey terms,” Heiman says, “we’re looking for strong line combinations and pairs that click.”
Scalable Technology and Service Model
“Our goal is to create a more personal alternative to shared parcel locker networks. For us, the household — and how it manages time — is at the very center,” says Heiman.
In addition to a scalable technology and service model, one of GARDI’s key advantages is that its technology enables not only receiving parcels but also sending them directly from home.
The latter is becoming increasingly important as parcel sending grows — driven by the rise of e-commerce returns and the rapidly expanding consumer-to-consumer second-hand market.
A New Phase of Growth Strategy
Seasoned process professional Marko Majamäki, formerly CEO of Vanajanlinna Group, has been invited to assemble a new board for GARDI to support the company’s next growth phase.
Majamäki believes the growing volume of shipments will increase the demand for seamless delivery solutions.
“As home-based sending becomes more common, it will drive the need for new types of service models. Disruptors like Wolt have shown that even we Finns appreciate convenient services that simplify busy everyday life. Around-the-clock parcel delivery and pickup are a great example of that,” Majamäki notes.
